Physiotherapy is an expanding area in the Veterinary profession. Animals present with many of the same injuries, illnesses and surgeries as humans. 


Animals too can benefit from assessment and treatment to improve mobility & strength, reduce pain & inflammation, speed recovery and improve well being & quality of life. 

Veterinary orthopaedic and neurological techniques are continuing to develop and rehabilitation plays an important part in this process. 

Physiotherapists use a variety of rehabilitation tools:

  • Manual therapy - soft tissue mobilisation (massage), myofascial release, trigger point therapy, joint mobilisations, stretches


  • Exercise programs - to improve mobility, strength, stability, balance, coordination and cardiovascular system


  • Electrotherapy - including neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES),TENS, ultrasound, electromagnetic therapy


  • Owner education and advice – including husbandry, home  environment, handling
